The Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties is a private, non-profit
501(c)(3) agency, operating with a full-time staff of 25, and numerous
volunteers. The main office is located at 700 East Cherokee in Jacksonville,
with the Anderson County office located at 813 South Royall Street in
Palestine. Office hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, but the telephone hotline is available 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week.
The Crisis Center provides crisis intervention services to residents of
Anderson and Cherokee Counties. We offer specialized services to victims
of family violence and sexual assault, as well as child abuse. The following
is a list of services provided:
Round-the-clock Help
For emergency crisis counseling and information
from trained volunteers through our 24/7 hotline
Personal Accompaniment
To assist with trips to local hospitals,
sheriff's office/police dept., pre-trial and court proceedings, etc.
Professional Counseling and Therapy
Individual and group counseling
services geared to the special needs of victims of child
sexual abuse and adult survivors of sexual
assault.
Shelter to Victims of Domestic Violence
Including emergency
housing for domestic violence victims; family protective orders and
legal advocacy; and Victims'
Compensation Assistance
Community Outreach and Education Classes
Good Touch Bad Touch with Happy Bear for elementary schools; Safe
Child Program for elementary and middle schools; Gender Respect Classes
for middle and high schools; service
club appearances
Support groups
Batterers Intervention Program to
hold batterers accountable for their actions; AWAKE woman's support
group to survivors of domestic violence;
ACORNS support to men and women who suffer physical, emotional or
sexual abuse as children.
Child Abuse Program
The Child Advocacy Center
