Offering temporary housing for individual and family seeking shelter

How large are the shelters?
The Jacksonville shelter is a 6 bedroom, 3-1/2 bath, brick house with a full kitchen, dining area, children's playroom and living area, which can house up to 30 individuals at capacity. The Palestine shelter is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, pier and beam house and also has a full kitchen, dining area, children's playroom and living area, which can house up to 15individuals at capacity.

What is the average length of stay?
Families stay an average of 45 days, but each family situation is reviewed bi-weekly and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Do families help with the cost of their food and supplies?
All food, clothing, and personal hygiene items are furnished free of charge. The family is responsible for their own bedroom area and the general maintenance assigned to them by the shelter staff, which may include, cleaning up of the living area, cooking of own meals, as well as other chores, which help maintain the shelter. This helps to eliminate the unnecessary cost of janitorial services at the shelters.

Where are the shelters located?
To protect the individuals and families living there, the locations of our Jacksonville and Palestine shelters are undisclosed.
